Snap-on Incorporated Appoints James P. Holden to Board of Directors

KENOSHA, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 9, 2007--Mr. James P. Holden has been appointed to the board of directors of Snap-on Incorporated (NYSE: SNA), a global leader in tools, diagnostics and equipment.

Mr. Holden, 56, served 27 distinguished years in the automotive industry, including 19 years with DaimlerChrysler and its predecessor, Chrysler Corporation. He was most recently president and chief executive officer of DaimlerChrysler Corporation until 2000. DaimlerChrysler Corporation is the U.S. legal entity and a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler AG, one of the world's largest automakers.

He was elected non-executive chairman of the board of directors of Meridian Automotive Systems, Inc. in March of 2007. He is also a director of SMobile Systems, Sirius Satellite Radio, Inc. and Speedway MotorSports, Inc.

Snap-on believes Mr. Holden meets the independence requirements of the New York Stock Exchange. His appointment increases the Snap-on board to 12 members. He will join the class of directors with terms expiring at the 2010 Annual Meeting.
